Head of Product & People
Patrick enjoys bringing everyone together and making things happen through collaboration.
His favourite line from a film is “I can’t carry it for you, but I can carry you” (Lord of the Rings).
Patrick works with the Strategy & Operations team to identify markets which would benefit from Caeli Nova’s technology. Once identified, the team looks at how our technology can enter each market and then works with the rest of the company to bring the strategies to life. Patrick also heads up the People team, whose brief is to make working for Caeli Nova a fulfilling experience with opportunities for career development and growth.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Patrick was an associate at McKinsey & Company, specialising in procurement and B2B pricing.
Patrick began his career as an aerospace engineer for Rolls-Royce, which is where he found his love for aviation.
Patrick has an MEng in Aerospace Engineering.
Research & Development Engineer
Holly’s positive and upbeat attitude is contagious around the lab.
Although afraid of heights, she has high ambitions to go sky diving. Now that is one way to face your fears!
Holly is part of the Research & Development team, focusing on all aspects of mechanical engineering and specialising in the control system development of our technology. One of Holly’s main strengths is her ability to learn quickly, which is a great asset to have when developing a new prototype. Holly is also part of the People team, focusing on recruitment and onboarding new employees. She also likes to get involved in all Caeli Nova’s social activities.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Holly graduated from the Imperial College London with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Victoria enjoys solving complex accounting problems and seeing the impact that a strong and efficient finance team can bring to an organisation.
She has 3 young boys so “her” hobbies mainly include Lego, Pokémon and chasing around after her boys!
Victoria has end-to-end responsibility for the finance function, including leading and developing the finance team, leading shareholder management and debt activities, owning the business model, and supporting the organisation as we grow to deliver our first commercial contracts.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Victoria worked at Ernst & Young (EY) for over 13 years where she held a variety of roles, including CFO of EY-Seren - a digital design consultancy acquisition, various Global Finance roles and she initially joined in a client facing role in the modelling team specialising in the Health Sector.
Previously, Victoria completed the Finance Graduate scheme at Rolls-Royce, spending time in UK and America, whilst working in Civil, Turbines, Helicopters and ultimately the Strategy and Corporate Development team.
Victoria is CIMA qualified and has a Mathematics BSc (Hons) from the University of Nottingham.
Head of Design Organisation
With a great ability to listen and coach, Barry excels at supporting his colleagues in their development.
His focused mind pushes him to succeed. His passion for running and cycling sees him competing in duathlons and triathlons. The race is on!
Barry is responsible for leading and coordinating design activities for fully certified or certifiable products, adopting the technology developed within the Research & Development team and turning it into a fully industrialised product.
Under our planned Design Organisation Approval (DOA), Barry ensures that we operate in accordance with regulation and with our Design Organisation Handbook (DOH). He makes sure we have appropriate resources and skills to deliver airworthy solutions.
Barry is also part of the People team, developing and driving initiatives that help our team grow personally and professionally.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Barry was an Engineering & Programmes Director at Ametek Inc. within its Thermal Management and Motion Control division. He was responsible for all engineering and programme functions across two businesses, developing thermal management and motion control systems for aerospace and military land vehicles.
Barry has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Management, along with an HNC in Mechanical Engineering. He is also a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
Cristina Vazquez Reynel
Cristina’s adaptability and passion to challenge herself to learn new things everyday are her key strengths.
Outside of Caeli Nova, Cristina is an analogue astronaut! She is looking forward to her first expedition conducting activities in simulated space conditions.
Cristina finds creative design solutions and then develops these ideas into tangible products. Her areas of focus are customer requirements, certification, CAD modelling, material selection and manufacturing processes.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Cristina was a Mechanical Design Engineer for L3Harris, taking part in many aspects of commercial flight simulator design.
Previously, she worked in Technical Publications and as a Quality Engineer in the final assembly line of the Airbus A400M.
Cristina has a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and has a Master of Science in Aerospace Materials.
Senior Manufacturing Engineer
With more than 25 years of manufacturing experience across the automotive and aerospace industries, Martin brings invaluable knowledge to the table.
When it’s time to unwind he enjoys all things Land Rover, such as Green Laning and overlanding.
Martin designs and develops the human interface for our first product, Cordillera. He helps design and build prototypes for testing and provides manufacturing input to all sub-systems.
Prior to joining us, Martin was a Principal Manufacturing Engineer for Auxitrol Weston, manufacturing sensors for gas turbine engines in the aerospace industry.
In his early career, Martin worked at automotive based companies, starting out with Southco making “access hardware”. Here, he gained experience in a broad range of processes and materials. He then moved onto Siemens VDO automotive, where he set-up several production lines for the manufacture of the “common module” fuel tanks and fuel systems for what was then the Premier Automotive Group (Ford, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Landover and Volvo).
Martin has an HND in Mechanical Engineering and a BSc (Hons) in Technology Management.
Sarah enjoys delivering targeted and creative multi-channel marketing campaigns.
She loves being in the snowy mountains and enjoys skiing on a cold, crisp bluebird day.
Sarah is responsible for managing marketing and PR activities for Caeli Nova. Her first brief was to plan and deliver a multi-channel marketing strategy to successfully launch Caeli Nova and our first product to market.
Prior to joining us, Sarah was a Marketing Manager for Luxaviation UK, one of Europe’s largest private aircraft charter operators. Her role was diverse with multiple marketing and communication responsibilities, including brand management, campaign management, digital marketing strategy and event management.
Sarah has a CIM Professional Certificate and a BA Honours in Graphic Design and Illustration.
Head of Research & Development
Kevin loves learning about people and their ideas. He combines this passion with an analytical approach to maximise team achievements.
Kevin seeks out adventure whether it’s exploring a new place or learning a new skill. At the moment he enjoys running and bouldering.
Kevin oversees, supports and provides guidance to the Research & Development team, which develops new concepts and technologies for our future products.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Kevin worked at Heatric, a division of Meggitt. His focus was helping to design bespoke printed circuit heat exchangers for clients.
Previously, he was a Lead Stress Engineer at Cobham Mission Systems. He led the mechanical design, development and qualification testing of one of their major development programmes.
Kevin is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
Chief of the Office of Airworthiness
Mayte’s analytical approach and insatiability for learning are her biggest strengths.
Outside of work, Mayte has ambitions to return to mastering Karate to achieve her second DAN black belt.
Mayte is responsible for interpreting and coordinating airworthiness matters, liaising with the aviation authorities and ensuring the Design Organisation Handbook is maintained in accordance with regulations.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Mayte was a Certification Engineer at JCB Aéro before moving into the same position at CDG, a Boeing company. At JCB Aéro and CDG, Mayte worked as part of the EASA DOA team, preparing and checking certification, compliance and maintenance documentation for cabin interior modifications of a variety of VIP and commercial aircraft.
Mayte has a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering, and qualifications specialising in EASA regulations (Part 21 J and G, Part 145, Part M).
Chief Technology Officer
Rob is adept at simplifying tasks and providing a vision of how Caeli Nova can take manageable steps towards developing future products.
A keen road cyclist, Rob spends as much time as he can on the bike. Whether it is being out on the road, or jumping on the turbo trainer on Zwift, Rob can’t get enough of cycling!
Rob was one of the first members of Caeli Nova back in 2018, and since then his role as Chief Technical Officer has evolved enormously. Rob’s role is to ensure we have the right team, facilities and partnerships in place to deliver all Caeli Nova’s technical outputs. He then supports the team to ensure our products meet the needs of our customers and create a positive impact on the world.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Rob studied Mechanical Engineering at Warwick University more than 20 years ago. Shortly after graduation he joined the Defence Evaluation Research Agency (DERA), which then became QinetiQ. At DERA he was a Flight Test Engineer, working with engineers and test pilots to trial modifications to military combat aircraft, ensuring they were safe to enter service. Rob was selected to attend The Empire Test Pilots’ School Flight Test Engineers course No. 28 in 2004 and after graduation worked as a civilian on the RAF’s Fast Jet Test Squadron.
In 2006, he joined Marshall Aerospace as Lead Flight Test Engineer on the A400M Flying Test Bed - an experimental aircraft designed to test the A400M TP400 power plant, on the wing of a C130K aircraft. At Marshall he worked in a number of roles, including Head of Flight Test Engineering and Chief Engineer, leading a design team converting a Global 6000 aircraft into an aerodynamic test vehicle for a special missions conversion programme.
In 2013, Rob moved to Amazon as the lead UAS test operator for the UK Prime Air programme. In this role he supported some of the early designs for the Prime Air programme and established Amazon’s initial experimental approvals, including their first EVLOS approval.
In 2014, Rob returned to Marshall ADG, initially as Head of Engineering for Military Programmes and then as Programme Director for Military Programmes. In these roles, Rob was accountable for delivering design and upgrade programmes to a number of military customers.
Hyuliya enjoys problem solving whist bringing encouragement and energy to the team.
Hyuliya loves being in nature, hiking and yoga. She enjoys playing drums and meditating to find her zen.
Hyuliya focuses on CFD & thermal analysis, modelling and working closely with Research & Development to develop prototypes and perform tests to validate different models.
Prior to joining us, Hyuliya worked at Manuplas as a Project Design Engineer. She worked with all parties involved in the lifecycle of the project, internal and external engineering design, process, quality, tooling, FEA analysing, manufacturing and purchasing.
Previously, she worked as a Mission Design Engineer at Istanbul Technical University. She led a small team to design a communication satellite. Throughout the project, Hyuliya used and developed her orbital mechanics and rocket propulsion knowledge, as well as modelling and analysing skills.
Pablo Reguera Duran
Pablo has a creative flair for CAD designs and using CFD.
He loves playing Padel, which is a mixture between tennis and squash. For Pablo, it is a social, engaging and addictive team sport.
Pablo is part of the Design Team and is currently focussing on CAD models and integration.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Pablo gained a Masters of Science in CFD at Cranfield University and performed the Master Thesis and NRG in the Netherlands, carrying out fluid simulations using OpenFoam and Ansys Fluent within nuclear reactors.
Previously, Pablo joined the CERN’s technical programme as a Mechanical Engineer. Here, he completed his Bachelor thesis on the mechanical study of the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider.
During his studies in aerospace engineering in Seville, Pablo worked for Trigo Qualitaire as a subcontractor of Airbus on the A400M Final Assembly Line as a Quality Engineer.
Dr. Onayomi Rosenior-Patten
Medical Research Associate
Onayomi has a strong talent for establishing positive relationships with people, and a keen problem solving ability.
She loves to travel anywhere and everywhere! Lebanon is her all-time favourite place with Japan a close second.
Onayomi’s role centres around demonstrating the efficacy and safety of our product by helping to design and run innovative clinical trials.
Prior to joining us, Onayomi graduated from Oxford in 2018 and then spent two years completing her foundation medical training in London and the South East.
Onayomi has a BM BCh Medicine, BA Medical Sciences (Neuroscience)
Research & Development Engineer
Joe has a passion for problem solving and secretly enjoys a good head scratcher to mull over.
An avid hockey player, Joe has played for the Scottish national team.
Joe is part of the Research and Development Team, exploring new ideas for the company and running tests to identify whether they can bring these ideas into reality. Joe and his team also test out concepts developed by the Design Team.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Joe studied at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow where he gained his Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering. He undertook his Master’s thesis at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid.
Strategy and Operations Associate
Barbara loves solving knotty problems and coming up with new ways to tackle challenges.
She has a bit of a sweet tooth and her favourite food is Douhua - a sweet tofu pudding served with various jelly toppings. She has even written a Chinese poem dedicated to Douhua…. It must be love!
Barbara works with the Strategy and Operations team to discover applications for our technology in exciting new markets.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Barbara worked as a consultant advising governments, investors and corporates on their China engagement strategy.
Barbara has a Master of Arts in Chinese Literature for which she received a scholarship from HSBC. She also holds a PGCE from the University of Oxford, Brasenose College.
VP Business Development
Alan is a goal focused individual who loves developing new relationships and establishing new markets for organisations.
With more than 382,191 air travel miles under his belt, it is no secret that he has a passion for flying, even despite experiencing a plane crash!
Alan leads the sales and marketing activities of the business. Since January 2020, Alan has been implementing the necessary processes and procedures to support a recruited team to deliver our initial growth plans as we go to market for the first time. He also focuses on leading the initial engagement with potential customers.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Alan worked for Acro Aircraft Seating. During his time there, his team managed to double the company’s sales in three years, in addition to securing its first customers in Asia Pacific, China, South America and Middle East.
Previously, Alan has always held roles related to the aircraft cabin product and inflight services. He has fulfilled the role of Head of Inflight Services for a number of airlines (including Thomas Cook) and worked in both operational and commercial roles for a number of supplier companies, covering inflight services, inflight retail and IFE.
Alan studied Hotel & Catering Management at Strathclyde University Business School. He then applied his learning to the aviation sector when he joined THF Airport Services in 1989.
Engineering Integration Lead
Puja enjoys problem solving and building relationships with people.
She keeps active with dance, yoga and cardio classes, and is also learning the guitar.
Puja ensures Caeli Nova engineers the right products, by integrating and capturing key aspects from all over the business which she then develops into a design solution. Puja is also part of the People Team, developing and driving initiatives that help us grow personally and professionally.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Puja worked for Rolls-Royce as a Project Development Engineering Manager on commercial jet engines, leading a team of 20 engineers. During her seven years at Rolls-Royce, Puja took on a number of roles including: Development Engineer, Development Technical Lead, Chief of Sub-System for Controls R&T and Sub-system Integrator.
Previously, Puja worked for Shell as a Mechanical Engineer on an oil refinery. In this role, she looked after the day-to-day operation of her production unit and led installation projects.
Puja has a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Research & Development Engineer
Arthur takes a scientific approach to research and development, experimental design and data analysis. He also leads in establishing a safety culture for the lab.
Back home he is known as Uther Pendragon for reasons you will find out if you get the opportunity!
Arthur is part of the Research & Development team and focusses on running projects to research human physiology and developing systems for use in our products. Arthur is also part of the People team, focusing on recruitment and onboarding new employees.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Arthur graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Master of Science in Materials Science.
Business Development - Asia Pacific
Jenn has a keen desire to achieve and deliver results whilst also nurturing customer relationships. She is a natural people person.
Jenn has already ticked off one item from her bucket list: a bungee jump in South Africa… what could be next!?
Jenn focuses on business development in the Asia Pacific market. She reaches out to target airlines and other relevant prospects to introduce the Caeli Nova offering and support with customer onboarding.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Jenn was responsible for business development in Asia for DMD. She worked with airlines and airports to produce the best reading and inflight entertainment.
Previously, Jenn gained sales and marketing experience in the aviation industry as a Regional Sales Manager at OAG. She then moved onto building the business in the region from scratch for two start-ups: Innovata and FlightStats. Both companies dealt with aviation data and solutions. These two businesses grew and were sold to FlightGlobal in 2014 and 2017 respectively.
Tim enjoys building and developing our team at Caeli Nova and working to strengthen relationships with partners in our industry.
He has the travelling bug and tries to visit a new country every year.
Tim has been at Caeli Nova since we started the company. He has worked on everything from the development of our initial business plan and the hiring of our first team members, through to leading discussions with our future customers, investors and potential aerospace industry partners and planning our entry into future markets. In his role, Tim is ultimately accountable for all Caeli Nova’s functions, including technology, finance, operations, supply chain and business development.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Tim was a Project Leader at Boston Consulting Group in London, where he was a core member of the Industrial Goods practice area. He worked to help clients across Europe on a range of strategic and operational projects.
Previously, Tim held supply chain positions at Rolls-Royce and spent time in the UK, Germany and China, whilst working with aerospace suppliers around the world.
Tim has an MBA from IMD.
Business Development – The Americas
Mary has more than 40 years’ experience in the airline industry and excels at strategic planning, financial planning and analysis.
She’s an experienced horse rider and loves to participate in horse shows.
Mary liaises closely with US-based carriers to identify their needs and then works with our leadership, research and development, and engineering team to support these requirements through our technology. She will also support our airline customers through installation and implementation of our technology.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Mary managed her own consulting business, primarily focused on introducing clients to the inflight connectivity and entertainment (IFEC) market.
Previously, Mary was the VP – Commercial Aviation at SmartSky LLC. SmartSky was a new entrant in the IFEC market and she was integral in signing SmartSky’s first commercial aviation customer, JSX (formerly JetSuiteX).
Chief of Independent System Monitoring
Chris is a good problem solver and takes pride in designing robust quality systems.
Taking a round the world cruise is high on his bucket list.
Chris performs audits to monitor the compliance against our procedures and the regulatory requirements of EASA Subpart J.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Chris was a Quality Director of Meggitt Aerospace for the Engine System division, working with tier one customers including Collins Aerospace, Rolls Royce, Safran for all quality-related matters. He also supported AS9100, EASA Part 21 Subpart G, EASA 145 and FAR 145.
Previously, Chris was a Quality Director for Ametek Airtechnology Group, supporting tier one customers including BAE Systems, Airbus, Boeing, Leonardo, Rolls-Royce, SAAB. Chris oversaw all quality-related matters for cooling fans, pressure switches, pilot cooling systems and heaters for civil and military applications, as well as the maintenance of AS 9100, EASA Part 21 Subpart G and EASA 145.
Chris has an HNC in Engineering Software, an ONC in Electronics and a C&G in Full Technology Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Simisola Oke
Medical Research Manager
Simisola learns quickly and communicates difficult concepts clearly and concisely.
She loves a game of netball. Since playing competitively at university, she continues to play today with her old NHS colleagues.
Simisola is our Medical Research Manager. Her role centres around planning and executing the medical and clinical trials required to demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of Caeli Nova’s products. Simisola’s work supports Caeli Nova to achieve the necessary certifications. She is also medical advisor to the Research and Development team, addressing any medical or physiology questions. A key member of the team, Simisola supports with stakeholder management as well as new technology application discovery.
Simisola describes herself as a huge extrovert: she loves meeting new people and enjoys working on projects that support the development of team and company culture. She utilises these attributes as a member of the People team.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Simisola was an academic junior doctor in the NHS having recently graduated from St George’s, University of London with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) and a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management from Imperial College London. She decided to put her medical training on hold to explore research in aviation and space medicine, which she has found to be an exciting journey to date.
Safwan is focused, positive and a great problem solver.
He is a huge football fanatic, playing two to three times a week.
Safwan supports the Finance Manager in day-to-day tasks such as bookkeeping in collaboration with external contacts and dealing with suppliers’ payments, invoices, internal recording and reconciliation.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Safwan was a Client Coordinator at BDO LLP. He responsible for the admin-related client tasks associated with undertaking audits, along with client onboarding and vetting. Safwan was part of the Professional Services Sector team and was essential in providing support particularly to the sector’s managers and partners.
Safwan is currently studying for AAT Level 3.
VP Supply Chain
Graham is good with complex problems, seeing the bigger picture and providing novel solutions.
As a classic car enthusiast, you may see him taking his TVR Griffith 500 out for a spin!
Graham finds the best quality, value and delivery performance in the supply chain. This can cover physical hardware, assembly and test services as well as support services such as warehousing and final customer fulfilment.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Graham held the role of Operations Plant Manager at Hale Hamilton Valves Ltd. (Circor Inc) and was responsible for running the new build and aftermarket areas for a flow control business – making valves, regulators and flow management systems. He had responsibility for the continuous improvement programme within the business, as well as the supply chain.
Early on in his career, Graham spent three years at Hybrid Air Vehicles, working on a first-of-its-type aerospace development project for the US government, using lighter than air technology. During this time, Graham developed his skills in aircraft integration and certification for full flight based on ‘fly by light’ technology, known as full optical flight control communications networks. The 300ft long vehicle took its successful maiden flight in August 2012.
Graham holds a Bachelor’s in Applied Chemistry from the University of Portsmouth, and an MBA from the University of Southampton. In his MBA, he specialised in ‘Make versus Buy’ policies in Aerospace businesses.
Kaoru is great at bringing people together. She is good at problem solving and working in a team.
She enjoys giving her free time to volunteering at St John Ambulance as an event first aider and Vaccination Volunteer Lead: leading a unit of 120 vaccination volunteers for the Covid Vaccination programme.
Kaoru leads the design and development on the Cordillera control system and human interface sub-system from requirements through to verification and certification.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Kaoru worked for Rolls-Royce as a Project Engineer for Gas Turbine Performance and Aerothermal Systems on the Trent7000 engine.
Kaoru is a Chartered Engineer and has a Master's degree in Engineering and Business Management.
Supply Chain Manager
Christos enjoys problem solving and finding innovative solutions through close collaboration with our team and partners.
He loves everything to do with the sea and is a keen enthusiast on sailing and powerboating.
Christos is responsible for leading and coordinating supply chain activities while developing and nurturing strong relationships with our suppliers and partners through long term engagement and mutual interests.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Christos was a Supply Chain Manager at Honeywell Aerospace, where he held a leadership role on the Materials and Logistics aftermarket business providing services to some of the biggest European airlines.
Previously, Christos held Engineering and Quality positions at Rolls-Royce and Honeywell.
Christos has a PhD from Cranfield University and an MBA from Imperial College London.
Design / R&D Engineering Intern
Nesta shows dedication and perseverance when solving problems. He likes to get stuck in and come up with non-conventional solutions to the challenges.
He is a keen cyclist and spends much of his spare time out on his bike.
Nesta supports the Design / Research and Development team at Caeli Nova by working and assisting on developing systems for use in our products.
Prior to joining us, Nesta completed his second-year at the University of Warwick studying Mechanical Engineering.
Nesta will be continuing his studies for his BEng in Mechanical Engineering following his summer internship at Caeli Nova.
Design Engineer Intern
Kristina pays close attention to her environment and the people around her which provides her with an abundance of inspiration.
She loves anything creative such as painting, drawing and crocheting.
Kristina supports the design team by working and assisting on developing our products. She takes responsibility for her own design projects whilst also collaborating with the team.
Prior to joining us, Kristina completed her second-year at the University of Cambridge studying Chemical Engineering.
Kristina will be continuing her studies in Chemical Engineering following her summer internship at Caeli Nova.
Research and Design Engineer
Ila enjoys coming up with creative solutions for technical problems.
He has a passion for music and plays classical guitar in his spare time. The Beatles song Blackbird is one of his favourites to play.
Ila is part of the Research and Design Team. His main focus is on developing and validating the mathematical model.
Prior to joining Caeli Nova, Ila graduated from the Imperial College London where he gained his MEng in Aeronautical Engineering. During his studies Ila also completed a yearlong work placement as a Simulator Engineer at Mercedes F1.
Every member of our team has been selected for their energy and passion. Developing a new product with groundbreaking technology is not easy, however by understanding and celebrating our individual strengths, each team member is empowered to make a significant contribution to the success of the business. We also like to play a lot of ping-pong!
